være litteratur, som omhandler emnet moderne arkitektur. En del af vor tids
bedste og mest tidløse design, er ofte mere en 50 år. Funktionalisme og
enkelthed er blevet elementer der præger den moderne bolig. Herunder er

Case Study Houses
The Case Study House program (1945-66) was an exceptional,
innovative event in the history of American architecture and remains
to this day unique. The program, which concentrated on the Los
Angeles area and oversaw the design of 36 prototype homes, sought to
make available plans for modern residences that could be easily and
cheaply constructed during the postwar building boom.
The program's chief motivating force was Arts & Architecture editor
John Entenza, a champion of modernism who had all the right
connections to attract some of architecture's greatest talents, such
as Richard Neutra, Charles and Ray Eames, and Eero Saarinen. Highly
experimental, the program generated houses that were designed to
re-define the modern home, and thus had a pronounced influence on
architecture - American and international - both during the
program's existence and even to this day.

Architecture Now II
The fine line between art and architecture is
rapidly becoming harder to perceive. With the aid of sophisticated
computer programs, today's most innovative architects are working on
designs so conceptual they could not be realized in the physical
world. Nevertheless, these sorts of forward-thinking projects are an
important influence on the architectural climate.
At the dawn of the 21st
century, architecture is entering a paradigm shift; no longer can it
be completely distinguished from art. Be they built from bytes or
bricks, the projects in this book represent the imagination of the
planet's most talented and creative architects. For all the latest
and most important architectural projects and trends, look no
further than this volume, the follow-up to our popular and
groundbreaking book Architecture Now!

100 Houses for 100
European Architects of the 20th Century
The greatest challenge in designing homes is
negotiating the delicate balance between aesthetics and the personal
desires of the occupants. While it’s important for the structure to
reflect the vision and style of the architect, the client must
ultimately feel at home beneath the roof. It is particularly
interesting, therefore, to examine the homes that architects create
for themselves. If houses reflect their owners’ personalities, then
architects’ own homes are like autobiographies. Location, layout,
style, lighting, artwork, furnishings—every detail adds color to the
story. Each of these 100 dwellings, presented A-Z by architect,
speaks more about its designer than any other building possibly
could.

Architecture and its
Photography
American photographer Julius Shulman's images of Californian
architecture have burned themselves into the retina of the 20th
century. A book on modern architecture without Shulman is
inconceivable. Some of his architectural photographs, like the
iconic shots of Frank Lloyd Wright's or Pierre Koenig's remarkable
structures, have been published countless times. The brilliance of
buildings like those by Charles Eames, as well as those of his close
friend, Richard Neutra, was first brought to light by Shulman's
photography.
The clarity of his work demanded that
architectural photography had to be considered as an independent art
form. Each Shulman image unites perception and understanding for the
buildings and their place in the landscape.

New Forms - Architecture
in the 1990s
In
the 1990s architecture has evolved considerably despite economic
constraints. The new architecture has been guided by the rapid
progress of computer assisted design and a newly rediscovered
affinity for the arts.
Indeed, many architects - from
France's Dominique Perrault, creator of the new Bibliothèque
Nationale de France, to Japan's Tadao Ando - explain their work in
terms of references to minimalism or land art. At the same time art
itself has veered towards installations and works which approach
architecture. These influences
have enriched and
